Session Abstract:

Many organizations set annual goals that are dead upon arrival. The goals do not tie to a compelling purpose, there is no obvious way to measure their success, and leaders fail to share results. Since today’s world moves so fast, it is no longer feasible to set goals once per year. If organizations want to stay relevant, they must continuously adapt their strategy and their approach. Otherwise, they face extinction. Many organizations have realized the need to adapt their strategy and have adopted modern methods for setting and tracking goals. Companies like Google and LinkedIn have turned to the Objectives and Key Results framework — OKRs for short — to align the critical work of every person they employ.

In this talk, Steven will present an overview of the OKR framework and why it is so critical for the modern enterprise’s survival. He will discuss how to craft an effective OKR, create aligned OKRs across a large organization, and adapt OKRs based on changing circumstances. Steven will also operate a brief workshop to practice writing OKRs so that participants can receive feedback from me. The session will wrap-up with Q&A, where Steven will provide practical tips on how to get started with your OKR journey.
