Senior Jira Developer (Colima, Mexico)

Position Description

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Apply expertise in programming procedures to create, modify and maintain complex projects or assignments
  • Provide guidelines and best practices during the technical design of the project
  • Uses his/her technical expertise to recommend the redesign of programs
  • Investigates and analyzes the feasibility of project requirements, and develops its technical specifications when required
  • Apply judgment in designing program logic and in selecting and adopting best practices
  • Plan the full range of technical activities needed to complete the assignment
  • Works independently under overall objectives, notifying the supervisor about progress and unusual complications
  • Perform functional end-to-end test on the whole project and also on related projects that may be impacted
  • Provide his technical expertise on the code review sessions to improve the overall quality of the project
  • Act as the SME (subject matter expert) on one or more functional/technical areas of the system
  • Report the progress of the tasks to the supervisor or higher-level team members. Share both the accomplishments and open items.
  • Prepare and present a mitigation plan when delays on the project occur to get back on track
  • When development is complete, ensure code is ready for deployment and all the necessary release instructions are documented
  • Prepare reports, technical and non-technical documentation related to the project
  • Escalate roadblocks to the lead
  • Guide or instruct lower-level team members
  • Help the staffing team by interviewing employee candidates for junior, intermediate and sometimes other senior-level positions
  • Main contact in front of the client



The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience working with the Atlassian product suite, with specific focus on JIRA as a Project/Application Administrator.
  • Experience with implementing Jira Cloud projects configuration
  • Experience with implementing Jira Service Desk Cloud and workflow with approvals configuration
  • Experience configuring Request-types in Jira Service Desk Cloud
  • Experience with Jira Plugins: ScriptRunner, Xray, JMWE
  • Proficiency in configuring, customizing and maintaining Jira issue types, fields, workflows, screens, issue layout and their associated schemes
  • Proficient with Jira automation, conditions, validators, listeners and post functions
  • Skilled in implementing best practices for creating and managing Jira Users, Groups and workflows
  • Understanding about Roles, Permissions and Issue Level Security Configuration
  • Experience with Atlassian Confluence
  • Configure, manage, and enhance Jira and Confluence tools, including native functionality as well as research, test, and implement plugins
  • Create JIRA projects, queries, and reports
  • Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language) and Dashboards.
  • Evaluate and manage the usage of Atlassian add-ons to meet team and business needs
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of Boards Configuration (Kanban/Scrum)
  • 70% English
  • Excellent communication skills

Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor Degree in IT or related

Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience
